January 27 has been circled on the calendars of Apple Tablet enthusiasts for a couple of weeks as a potential launch date for the long rumored device, and now it’s confirmed that Apple will be holding an event next Wednesday to show off its “latest creation.” The event will take place at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, and at this point, if anythingother than the Apple Tablet (potentially named iSlate) is revealed, it would be a bigger surprise than the Tablet itself. Driver training course for mobility scooter users

A course to improve the driving skills of mobility scooter users has been set up by Norfolk Police because they are worried about the number of accidents involving the vehicles. Mannequin dolls, simulating pedestrians on the high street, are among the obstacles drivers have to negotiate. Derby health trust missing 60,000 medical items

Some 60,000 pieces of medical equipment are missing in Derby, health officials bosses have revealed. NHS Derby City PCT said £1.5m worth of items, including wheelchairs, crutches, hoists and beds, have been loaned to patients and not been returned. Jill Collinson, the trust's Director of Engagement, said in most cases people had forgotten they had the equipment. She appealed for patients or their relatives to return the equipment to the trust. Ms Collinson said: "When people are sick and being cared for in hospital or in the community, they often need specialist bits of equipment. Our new Apartments and Studios are now complete and have all the additions in place to make for an easier holiday for the mobility impaired and able bodied visitors. These include grab rails and  wall mounted showerchairs in the roll in shower rooms, wider doors, lowered light switches etc. We also do special 'packages' which include breakfast/meals  for most or all of our guests stay.
