Exciting News of Further Developments at Vale da Cegonha We developed Vale da Cegonha in 2007-08 with the sole intention of making the beautiful Alentejo Region of Portugal accessible to everyone. Previously this lovely area was pretty much a closed door. When we opened we were able to offer 1 holiday villa, Casa Aguia, which has 2 ensuite bedrooms, one of which is fully accessible. We can now offer a patient turner and over bed table as well as the electric profiling beds, 3 different shower chairs, riser recliner chairs, monkey pole, bath boards, toilet seat risers, portable toilet surround and leg risers. Accessatlast limited is a supplier of Molift Smart Hoists to the JPT (Joseph Patrick Trust funding) a scheme for disabled people with muscular dystrophy. The Molift smart hoist is the preferred portable hoist for dependent people with mobility issues wanting to travel away from home and require lifting and handling equipment. Grants from the Joseph Patrick Trust are only available to individuals affected by neuromuscular conditions; applicants also have to live in the United Kingdom to be considered. The Trust doesn't offer a huge amount of money, and as noted on the organization's website, in many cases the grant won't cover the full cost of the equipment. Co-operative Travel rolls out custom holidays for the disabled

February 17 2010 The Co-operative Travel has launched a dedicated service for disabled holiday-makers after a survey revealed widespread discontent with the current situation. The survey of 215 disabled travellers, conducted by the Co-operative Group’s travel-arm with charity Tourism for All, found 84 per cent of respondents did not believe high street travel agents understood their needs and 78 per cent did not think they were catered for. Co-operative Travel to improve service to disabled customers

(15 February 2010) The Co-operative Travel is to improve its service to disabled travellers, after a survey revealed disabled people lack confidence in booking holidays through high street travel agents. The study, carried out with UK disabled tourism charity Tourism for All, found that 85% of respondents did not believe agents understood the needs of disabled travellers, and that 78% did not think they were catered for by the high street. The survey also found that 93% of disabled travellers found their choice of holidays restricted due to their disability.
